Although it was quite a dissapointing season for the storm I have great hopes for next season. Once the lads have had a break and are ready for the fight again there will be no stopping them. From what I have heard already there are going to be quite a few changes to the team so lets hope that they work and the lads go out on the ice in september and kick a hell of a lot of ass!

Please help! Loyal Ice Hockey Supporters please help the BT Cardiff Devils by e-mailing me your opinions on the Devils being excluded from the Europa Cup. As the Devils won the Superleague they were told that they could compete in the Europa cup. Recently, the Devils were told that their rink is not up to European standards after spending thousands of pounds on plexi-glass, clock etc. Instead of the Cardif Devils, Manchester Strom have been chosen to represent GB along with Sheffield Steelers. Sheffield won the play-offs and came second in the league so they deserve to play in the Europa Cup but Manchester finished second from bottom. The only reason why Manchester have been chosen is because they have a new, large rink. I have nothing at all against Manchester it is just that I feel Cardiff should play in the Europa Cup instead of Manchester. It doesn't seem fair that a team who finished second from the bottom gets chosen to represent GB over the team who won the league. Please, Please Please support the Devils in this as they deserve to represent GB. Thanks.

New pages are OK. I am not a very big fan of frames. A few alignments need sorting out on some links. On some pages the left hand frame is repeated on the left of the right hand frame. Why change name to INTO from INTER?

Well it's finally ended the season that never was, but hey at least Ruby beat everyone on penalty minutes, and my little blonde Elvis has finally left and returned home to dye his hair and improve his suntan so that he glows better than Jeff. I bet that the Manchester Tarts will be crying into their sugar puffs, well they're not old enough to eat adult cereal!!!. Did anyone ever see how many girlys the team actually managed to squeeze into those lovely sponsored cars, we saw ten one night. Well it's one way tickets for many of our players and the question is will we see any brits on the ice next season ? We must love you and leave you, see you all next season. Hi, it's us again with bad withdrawal symptoms from Ice Hockey. We've done some really weird things and there are still three months, alas to go!!!!! If the new Baron von trap gets rid of my beloved 'george' then I am liable to impail him on a rather large hockey stick, as lets face it the team didn't use them last season. Biggar says that the team will have to behave this season, but how is he going to stop them, stand in toilets and stop them doing unmentionable things to little puck bunnies!!!!!!!

Just want all those involved with the Storm, team, management and fans alike, to know that you are getting one heck of a coach in kurt k. He is a team guy and a players coach, dedicated to a winning attitude through hard work. I had the privilege of playing for kurt as a youngster during his playing days in college (providence friars). He was a player coach then and left me with some exceptional insight into the best game on earth! I also have had the opportunity to work on the Iceaps h.p. During that time kurt has again made a lasting impression on me and the game here in n.c that we all love so much. I have been playing hockey for 23 years now in every competetive environment and know the genuine article when I see it, best of luck to the Storm and its' fans this season, you've got a great man behind the bench who will give it all he's got to get the job done.

Jaromir Jagr probably earns more than the entire rosters of all eight Superleague teams combined. Federov has been such a disappointment that he has played his last ten games on defence (although he did score 5 in one game earlier this season that seems to have been his last hurrah). Mario played his last game at home tonight, scoring on the breakaway and is going to dedicate his life henceforward to golf. I'm afraid you are stuck with Chinn...

I would just like to say a huge big welcome to Kurt from everyone who supports the Manchester Storm. I am sure he will bring us bigger and better things for next season. And also good luck and goodbye to the one and only John Lawless. I hope he is happy in the future and thankyou for everything he did for the team. Thanks again John! Me and my best friend Laurie Swindells have just bought our season tickets for next season and will hopefully be sitting in block 115 row b seats 19 and 20. Come and say hi if you want (I'm the one in the big stupid coloured hat with the biggest pom poms?!) you know who we are anyway. Good luck to the storm for next season and hope to all the happy faces back. Good luck everyone and we love you!

Welcome folks to the world of Ice-Hockey-as-a-Business. Believe me the fans only count as long as their cash is flowing. Here "small-market" franchises are constantly threatening to move. They hold cities to ransome for new Arenas, demand the revenue from parking, concessions etc etc, with the threat of relocation. 'Small market' has nothing to do with the number of fans who attend. You can get capacity crowds of 18,000 to every game and it won't matter. The bottom line is the American TV audience. If the NHL can generate enough interest to land a major network TV contract they won't need to get any paying customers in at the gate. And these fans want wins, superstars, glowing pucks so they can follow the play, dancing girls and comfy chairs. Any old rules that interfere can be changed..four periods to allow for more ads; no problem: bigger goals so more exciting goals will be scored..of course Mr. CBS Sir. Of course in five years they will all have deserted hockey for the latest Disney sport. Meanwhile the die-hard fan of the game can lump it. We in Canada are suffering already..you have been warned...

What a fortnight for the Storm. What with seeing the back of John Lawless, the appointment of coach Kleinendorf and all the goings on with Stormforce. No doubt people are going to have different opinions on all the above topics. The Sad B's will probably have plenty to say too. I for one will not be interested. I've always stuck up for them in the past as they are the true hockey fans who follow the team around the country and deserve a whinge every now and again. But no more. The letter to IHNR was one step too far and I can't really blame David Davies for taking the stand that he has though I do think he was looking for an excuse to dump Stormforce anyway. It would be nice to think that now all these upheavals have happened that we can all just get on with looking forward to next season and getting behind KK and the rest of the team. A brave new world awaits. Unfortunately I live in cloud cuckoo land and it just is not going to happen. Too many very large egos have been dented by this whole Stormforce/Sad B's/IHNR nonsense and to quote Vic and Bob, 'They will not let it lie.' If there was ever a time for people to just shut up and take their medicine it is now. Ogdens are NOT going to change their minds and no amount of abusing Dave Biggar on Sunday at the AGM is going to change that. Pushing the point too vehmently will only serve to further antagonise the management and the real losers will be the fans, the team and especially the kids who come to watch the Storm as there will be no more socials. Lets all just forget what has gone on and get on with enjoying this summer, the calm before the Storm. No more bitching, no more whinging and definately no more letters to IHNR, Powerplay, the MEN, Just 17, Playschool or anywhere else for that matter.

OK Here's my thoughts on recent goings on. Sacking Lawless - Hmmmm!! Look at his track record!! One bad season doesn't make a top coach a bad one. As some said look at Alex Ferguson - at one point a lot of United fans were asking him to be ejected..look at his record since. IF the quote from some one here is true (don't believe all rumours or all you read on here) that he was going to keep 12 of last seasons players then I would have to question that. I could think of 3 maybe 4 definites and maybe another 3/4 maybes. Reliable info has it that only Cooper and Ruggles have contracts and that no news will be forthcoming till June. Nicky Chinn is said to have a year left on his contract at Sheffield and unlikely to be coming over the pennines. As some one else has already said if Kurt likes work rate that should see the back of Mr. Ruggles. Why do so many people not rate Finnie?? He has played some outstanding games for us.

So new coach Kurt Kleinendorst likes hard working andcompetitive players - looks like it's goodbye to Hilton (1 year too late) and a few others - lets hope we see more players like Jeff Lindsay, Mike Morin, Nick Poole & Brad Rubachuk (when he is on the ice & not in Block 103/Row A) who put in more effort than the rest of the team put together. John was a good coach but some of his buy's last season and his motivational qualities left a lot to be desired - how many times when things were going wrong did you see John with his arms folded standing behind the bench when what the players needed was a kick up the backside (apart from Tim Benchwarmer) Dempsey who was always sat on his). Also lets hope we get a new netminder who with Eric Raymond will form a strong netminding duo - Finnie was just NOT up to the job. I know this will upset a lot of young fans but tough!! Anybody who knows anything about Ice Hockey must agree. Well now that I've got that off my chest lets hope we get a team that Manchester can be proud of. Welcome & good luck to Kurt - I think he will need it with Ogden Management as his boss.

YES! John Lawless has gone, the whole squad has gone and about time too. Apart from a few players (Raymond, Turner, Poole and a couple of others) the squad were over paid so-called superstars. Ruggles said in an interview that he only turns up to the practice to "go through the motions - beacuase there's nothing else to learn!" - what an arse, how about team techniques Ruggles, how about commitment to the Manchester Storm Hockey Club, how about learning to play as a unit rather than dump n run. Whoever comments on the fact that the Storm are still a new team - what about Ayr????? They've proven that even without the "SKILL" of Ruggles, the "POWER" of Jago and the "TOUGHNESS" of Rubachuk you can still have a good side if you just put the "EFFORT" in, - but as the Manchester crowd are more interested in dancing and admiring "Rubies Butt Cheeks" then I guess we'll have to put up with rubbish. The real reason Lawless was sacked was because he was going to keep 12 members of last seasons squad - 12!!!! I can't think of 5 players who are worthy of our hard earned money. - Lawless wanted to keep Latta - what a ****ing joke - when he wasn't tripping himself up on the ice you never noticed he was there!!! So, Ogdens, get your act together, get some of the lower players from the NHL - (Ogdens own the arenas that house the LA KINGS, OTTOWA SENATORS and the HARTFORD WHALERS) and use Manchester as a feed team - at least we'll see players who want to PLAY, put in the EFFORT and most of all want to WIN. If you don't with the above, fine, write about it, don't just moan about Ogdens being a cash driven company, because that's the ONLY reason most teams are here - to make MONEY!!! - any way, here's to next season, lets kick some Sheffield butt!!!!!!!

I stick up for the team every way I can, and defend any of the players against anyone who tries to put them down. But anyway, that doesn't matter. What's done is done, and let's hope OgdenCorporateWhore entertainment don't sack the next manager if he doesn't get the storm to the top of the league next season.

I think that everyone will agree with me here in saying that the sacking of john lawless was ridiculous and stupid if ogden say that they aren't a getting enough supporters they must be blind, deaf, dumb, or all three. You still make enough money by charging ridiculous prices for food and not to mention match programmes. You charge £3.00 for watery coke with half a ton of icecubes and the hot dogs are the worst. Well done Sad B if that's who you are - very commendable. If you actually supported your team instead of just slagging them off then maybe you'd get taken a bit more seriously.

On a much more pleasant note, I am ditching Lpage Guestbooks if my trial with another Guestbook provider goes smoothly. The new Dreambook will be online when the new Web pages go online on 1st May.

So, what do you think of Lawless's sacking then? I was surprised, but Ogdens' have decided to be radical and dumping Lawless and Stormforce - Stormforce are now the Independant supporters club. Dave Biggar will announce this in full (supposedly) at the Stormforce AGM on Sunday 27 April at Manchester City FC. If you want more details, look in a programme from near the end of the season, or mail me and I'll let you know exact location, times etc. It is free for any Stormforce member to come to and everyone is welcome.

I expect all this will change the players coming/going situation. I'll see if I can find any more out...

(please note, this entry has appeared in the thunderflash guestbook too)

Ogden ice hockey go and show that they only care about money, by sacking john lawless, apparently, because they're not drawing big enough crowds in, coz the storm aren't winning. The corporate whores. Ogden are rippin the public off, (especially now they want 25% of the 50/50 draw) and now they sack lawless because he's had ONE bad season. Are they forgetting he took the storm to the top the year before? Ogden dont care about the fans, they just care about filling their dirty pockets with other people's hard earned cash. Already it's becoming too commercial. I'm not saying I'm going to avoid matches, but this is something that annoys me. The fat cats on Ogdens management want to get their heads out of their orifices and do something good for once. It's not as if they're not making any money, the greedy gits. SO SUE ME. Hi Sweeties out there in hockey land. Question... Which is the most famous hockey player in the world? Well those of you who watched "They think it's all over" will know that along with famous sporting personalities that teams have to guess the identity of, including Pele, Jimmy White, etc, was our very own HILTON RUGGLES!!! Can you believe that? This is a BBC programme, and we all know what their hockey coverage is like, but did they go for Gretzky, Hull, Lemieux or Fedorov, no siree. Nice one Hilt. ALSO while we're here, fancy a little gossip? OK. How about Mr Craig Woodcroft for captain next year, don't bet against it! Fancy a new big bad wolf who can put the puck in the net? Word on the streets (and in the pubs of Geordieland) is that a certain Mr Bodnarchuk could be heading our way!! See ya later. PS Love and kisses to Simon, keep up the good work.

Earlier in the season I would have agreed that Rubachuk should go as he spent more time in the penalty box than on the ice. But in the last half of the season he wasn't in the box that much and his performance on the ice was excellent. On the subject of Hilton - although I'm probably biased I know he's not been as prolific a scorer as last year but I think a lot of that is down to the way the other teams seem to be on him all the time, because he is a good poacher. Granted his attitude needs a good kick, but when he was out for a couple of games at the end of the season you could tell he was needed in front of the goal.

Ah well unlucky in the play-offs but things will change next season (hopefully). But as we should be more consistant we can beat the best team when we play with everything but most of the time we get beat by the worst teams. We need a better defensive line and also play with more consistancy.

There will be a number of new features including on-line chat! I am hoping to set up a Forum as well, but at least I've got the chat working. This means I'll be able to set up a meeting time/date and everyone can come along and we can discuss Manchester Storm live over the Internet! Also, it can be used to do things like provide match commentary of games (I don't think you can use sound though, so it would have to be written commentary!) As soon as it is up and running I'll post a message here so people can "beta-test" it for me before I tell everyone. The only thing is though that you need a Java-enabled browser for it to work (Netscape 3 or MSIE 3 will do). America On-Line (AOL) users will not be able to access the chat as they use a Proxy to access the Internet. People using company access with a firewall will also not be able to access it - sorry, not much I can do about that!

Some (although not many) of the new pages are already online on different pages while I do some "beta-testing" on them. If you'd like to have a sneak preview of the *NEW* Web site then click here and please give me your feedback either here or by e-mail (simon.sm@zetnet.co.uk). Note that I may change the table design to a frameset design as it takes much too long to download the pages at the moment.

Mike Morin played for us (Richmond Renegades) last season, and was certainly a great player. I am sure that he is a major asset to your team too. We miss him!! Good Luck!!!

Hmmmm.....slight setback in the new web pages!

I was hoping to avoid using frames, but for the design I want NOT using frames means that it takes approx 6 times longer to load the pages up than normal and some of the JavaScript doesn't work.

So, it's back to the drawing board - expect something early next week. I'll have to do an interim update of the pages as I've got lots of NHL news to add and a report on the Superleague Final.

Has anybody got any player rumours? From speaking to Chad Penney, Hilton Ruggles and Jeff Sebastian I didn't get the impression that they were too hopeful of staying. There are conflicting reports about Brad Rubachuk, some say he's going, some say not. Stephen Cooper seems set to stay. So does Craig Woodcroft. There are also the rumours about a new coach - we'll have to see! If anyone can add to this then please do!

There have been no updates to this site for a few days and no Storm Blitz gone out since last week. The reason for this is that I have been working on the new pages!!

We are talking BIG design changes - a name change, a slight colour change, lots of fancy Java and even more news and information. I should have finished writing the pages by the end of this week, so check back over the weekend to have a good look around...Remember to make sure you have Java and JavaScript enabled on your browser!
