The Liga 1 is the division below the National Leagues of which there is a National League A and National League B. The Interlaken team had finished second in Liga 1 and so qualified for the promotion play-offs to National League B but were unsuccessful and so were not promoted. Storm totally overran Interlaken after opening the scoring with 2-51 gone of the first period. Craig Woodcroft scored the first of his five goals and then Kris Miller made it 2-0 on the 5 minute mark. Thirty seconds later Stefan Ketola made it 3-0 and Woodcroft scored his second a minute after that to bring the score to 4-0 after just six and a half minutes. Rick Judson made it 5-0 on 12-40 and Stefan Ketola scored his second on 14-10. Storm out-shot Interlaken 27-5 in that first period. The second period got underway with a Dave Morrison goal after just 12 seconds and then Craig Woodcroft made it 8-0 just 90 seconds later. Brad Rubachuk made it 9-0 anothet 90 seconds later before Interlaken scored their goal on 24 minutes. Dale Jago made it 10-1 two minutes later followed by the eleventh by Dave Morrison. Craig Woodcroft scored his fourth and fifth goals on 28 and 34 minutes followed by a goal from Tomlinson on 35 minutes to bring the score to 14-1. Wiklander made the score 15-1 four minutes before the end of the second period. Storm outshor Interlaken 33-5 in the second period. The third period was much quieter with just the one goal from Stefan Ketola scored with five minutes of the game remaining to make the final score 16-1. Storm had 14 shots to 7 in that period. Stephen Cooper was Man Of The Match. > INTERLAKEN BEATEN 9-0 AT AYR On Tuesday 2 September, Interlaken visited Ayr Scottish Eagles and were soundly beaten 9-0. It was 2-0 after the first period, 6-0 after the second and the final three goals were scored in the third period. > BISON FRIENDLIES Some games I didn't notice! On 21 August, Basingstoke played HC Vitkovice at the Playground and drew 5-5. Steve Brown, Mike Shewan, Rich Strachan, Greg Gatto and Darren Hurley scored for Basingstoke. On 30/31 August there was a double header friendly against Slough Jets. In the away game, Bison won 7-3 with Maybury scoring 4 goals for Basingstoke with Priest, Little and Schewan also scoring. The Slough goals were scored by Cross (2) and Coutts.
