On 4 minutes, Jeff Tomlinson opened the scoring for Storm to give them a 1-0 lead. Jamie Leach equalised for Nottingham after 10 minutes of the game and then both teams had a goal ruled out. The period ended 1-1. On 21 minutes, Dominic Maltais put Storm back into the lead. On 30 minutes Brad Rubachuk put Storm 3-1 up. Panthers closed to 3-2 but Dominic Maltais scored Storm's fourth before the end of the second to make the score 4-2. Brent Bobyk scored for Nottingham to make the score 4-3 and then with 15 minutes remaining, Jeff Jablonski scored the fifth goal for Storm. Nottingham turned on the pressure and Kraig Nienhuis equalised to make it 5-5. The score remained the same and so it was onto overtime. The radio commentary that I had been listening to on and off whilst being otherwise occupied, even carried on after 10.00 to cover overtime, which I was grateful to be able to hear whilst driving down the M62 and then annoying pedestrians with it through Whitefield! Well done to GMR, Andy Costigan and Jack Dearden for the coverage. The game itself remained fairly even in overtime with both sides having chances to win it. Storm have now played two games and both have been drawn after overtime - it is looking like being a tight league this season. > NEW SUPERLEAGUE CHIEF EXECUTIVE ANNOUNCED The Superleague have announced the successor to John Lord as Ice Hockey Superleague Chief Executive. He is the former Great Britain (field) hockey goaltender Ian Taylor. He won a Gold medal in 1988 and will take up the position in December. > LATEST SUPERLEAGUE TABLE Pl W D OL NL +/- Points Nottingham Panthers 3 1 2 0 0 +1 4 Ayr Scottish Eagles 2 1 0 0 1 +3 2 Manchester Storm 2 0 2 0 0 +0 2 Cardiff Devils 2 0 2 0 0 +0 2 Basingstoke Bison 2 0 2 0 0 +0 2 Bracknell Bees 1 0 1 0 0 +0 1 Sheffield Steelers 1 0 1 0 0 +0 1 Newcastle Cobras 1 0 0 0 1 -4 0 Win=3; Draw=1; Overtime Loss=1; Normal Loss=0 > LATEST EHL DIVISION F TABLE Pl W OW OL L +/- Points Moscow Dynamo 2 1 1 0 0 + 5 5 Sparta Prague 2 1 0 0 1 - 1 3 Manchester Storm 2 0 0 2 0 - 2 2 Bolzano 2 0 1 0 1 - 2 2 Win=3; Overtime Win=2; Overtime Loss=1; Loss=0 > FORTHCOMING STORM GAMES DATE OPPONENTS F/O VENUE COMPETITION Sat 11 Oct Bracknell Bees 6.00 Away B&H Cup QF 1st Leg Sun 12 Oct Basingstoke Bison 6.00 Away Superleague Tue 14 Oct Sparta Prague 7.30 Away EHL Division F Sat 18 Oct Bracknell Bees 7.00 Home B&H Cup QF 2nd Leg Sun 19 Oct Ayr Scottish Eagles 6.00 Home Superleague Tue 21 Oct Newcastle Cobras 7.30 Home Superleague > TRAVELLING AWAY TO WATCH STORM Bracknell Bees v Manchester Storm Saturday 11 October 1997 face off 6.00 Address John Nike Leisuresport Complex, John Nike Way, Bracknell.
