Kevin Conway scored the Bison's first goal and then in sudden death overtime scored the fourth and winning goal. This was Storm's third Superleague game and they have not won any of them yet, although the defeat at Basingstoke did yield a point due to the score being 3-3 after 60 minutes. > DRAW FOR STORM IN B&H CUP AT BRACKNELL Storm continued their remarkable run of draws with another - this time 2-2 at Bracknell Bees in the 1st Leg of the Quarter Final of the Benson & Hedges Cup. After a goalless first period, Gomes opened the scoring for Bracknell on 22 minutes before Mike Morin equalised after 33 minutes. Craig Woodcroft put Storm 2-1 ahead on 45 minutes but Bracknell equalised just 12 seconds later. The final score remained 2-2 to set up an exciting second leg in Manchester on Saturday 18th October. > OTHER B&H QF RESULTS In other B&H Cup Quarter Final 1st leg games, Basingstoke Bison travelled to Newcastle Cobras and drew 1-1. In the first live SKY game of the season, Ayr Scottish Eagles defeated Nottingham Panthers 4-2 at the Centrum Arena. > OTHER SUPERLEAGUE RESULTS After recent Superleague games had been very close, all the other games on Sunday were victories by 3 goals. Ayr Scottish Eagles defeated Nottingham Panthers 6-3 with Jamie Steer scoring twice for Ayr. Sheffield Steelers defeated Newcastle Cobras 4-1 at the Sheffield Arena with Scott Allison scoring twice for Steelers. Cardiff Devils beat Basingstoke Bison 6-3 with Steve Thornton getting the scoring under way for Cardiff after just 8 seconds. > TELL GMR THEY ARE GREAT Tell GMR how great they are for providing away full match commentary of the game at Nottingham on 7th October. They NEED to know if you listened or not. Send your comments by post to: Karen Hannah Managing Editor BBC GMR New Broadcasting House Oxford Road Manchester M60 1SJ If GMR KNOW you listened and liked it then they WILL do more coverage. If they get decent feedback then there WILL be more of the same, otherwise there won't! > DOWNLOAD ICE HOCKEY SCREENSAVER If you haven't seen the BUD ICE screensaver yet, then what are you waiting for? It has a penguin as a netminder and you can take slapshots at him to try and score a goal! You can download it from http://www.storm.u-net.com/install.exe The file is 1.7MB so it may take a while to download with a modem. Once you have downloaded it, simply run the install.exe file and you will be able to choose BUD ICE from your screensaver settings. > NEW SUPERLEAGUE PLANS FOR BIRMINGHAM It is reported that the American millionaire Blake Cullen will return to Birmingham in the next few weeks to discuss further the proposals to bring a Superleague ice hockey team Birmingham. Blake is looking to invest his own money to install an ice pad at the National Indoor Arena or the NEC, after NEC officials admitted that they needed a lottery grant before they could start work on a new arena. Blake Cullen will meet the NEC officials to put his new proposals forward. Hopefully he will get the go-ahead, which will mean Birmingham will at last see Superleague ice hockey in the city. The Team may be called Birmingham Bulldogs or Birmingham Royals. > STEELERS SUSPEND TIM CRANSTON Sheffield Steelers have suspended forward Tim Cranston for one week without pay. Cranston is allegedly involved in the promotion of a new sports bar opening near to Sheffield Arena. Sheffield Steelers club manager Steve Crowther felt that Cranstons "other" role as a lawyer had brought him into conflict with the Steelers business interests. Tim said he was involved in the launch of the Players bar project as a professional lawyer rather than in any Steelers organised personal appearance role. The ban means that Cranston missed the Sheffield Steelers home game on Sunday 12 October against Newcastle Cobras. > CARDIFF SELL ICE HOUSE Cardiff Devils have sold the Wales National Ice Rink (now called Galaxy 101 Ice House) to a company called Compco Holdings. They will lease it back for the next three years after which Cardiff hope to have their new Arena built. > LATEST SUPERLEAGUE TABLE Pl W D OL NL +/- Points Ayr Scottish Eagles 3 2 0 0 1 +6 4 Cardiff Devils 3 1 2 0 0 +3 4 Basingstoke Bison 3 1 2 0 0 +1 4 Nottingham Panthers 4 1 2 0 1 -2 4 Sheffield Steelers 2 1 1 0 0 +3 3 Manchester Storm 3 0 2 1 0 -1 3 Bracknell Bees 2 0 1 0 1 -3 1 Newcastle Cobras 2 0 0 0 2 -7 0 Win=2; Draw=1; Overtime Loss=1; Normal Loss=0 > LATEST EHL DIVISION F TABLE Pl W OW OL L +/- Points Moscow Dynamo 2 1 1 0 0 + 5 5 Sparta Prague 2 1 0 0 1 - 1 3 Manchester Storm 2 0 0 2 0 - 2 2 Bolzano 2 0 1 0 1 - 2 2 Win=3; Overtime Win=2; Overtime Loss=1; Loss=0 > FORTHCOMING STORM GAMES DATE OPPONENTS F/O VENUE COMPETITION Tue 14 Oct Sparta Prague 7.30 Away EHL Division F Sat 18 Oct Bracknell Bees 7.00 Home B&H Cup QF 2nd Leg Sun 19 Oct Ayr Scottish Eagles 6.00 Home Superleague Tue 21 Oct Newcastle Cobras 7.30 Home Superleague Sun 26 Oct Bracknell Bees 6.00 Away Superleague > TRAVELLING AWAY TO WATCH STORM Bracknell Bees v Manchester Storm Sunday 26 October 1997 face off 6.00 Address John Nike Leisuresport Complex, John Nike Way, Bracknell.
