Hello from Japanese Storm fans! As we are so far away from Manchester, we can't go and see the games. But that doesn't mean our love will die away! Me and my friend used to live in Manchester and went to every home games. Block 109, row C, seat 6+7 were our usual seats. Thinking back, it was the best days of my life. I miss Manchester and Storm so much and hoping to go back soon. If you want to drop me a line, I'll be at Takako2@msn.com
Love you, Jago!!!!!

1. Why in the full length shot of Ruby does he look as if hes got a leg growing out of his bottom
2. What is wrong with the macarena? (ha ha)

Re: the new action photos.

Ooops! I've checked the directory that I thought I'd uploaded the files to and they aren't there. I'll have to do them all again, so expect them in a couple of days!

Has anyone listened to the sound clips of the commentary that me and the Radid Bee did? I know some of the quality is poor and the size is quite big but they do work at least!

Oh yes and while I'm here...will the people using this guestbook as a dump for their rubbish please stop it. I know I said I didn't mind HTML tags like br and hr and bold and flash but I don't want images and allsorts of drivel in here thanks! Talk about ice hockey or leave your comments about the page. If you want to leave a private message to me, there is now the message feature on the signing page - just tick the box. If you want to advertise your web page with more than the link next to your name, then that is OK (I don't mind banner images as long as they are not obtrusive) but keep it relevent!!

Rant over....

I think the play-off fixtures for Storm have been announced - does anyone know them? I'll add them to the fixture list by the end of the week, so if you check back here before then hopefully someone will have posted them!!

By the way, if you leave me a private message, I will read it and respond if necessary, but the message will not be transfered over into the Copy of the Guestbook as there's not much point in it staying there really, just in case you wonder where your posting has gone to.

OK here's the lowdown on what players are going where.
Brad Rubachuck is going to Wimbledon F.C. - they feel they need to beef up their physical presence. Ruggles is going to Manchester City (They can't play either). Dale Jago is emmigrating to Mars, David Smith is opening a caravan park, John Lawless is opening a dental practice and the rest of the boys are going to be bought by Sheffield Steelers as they're about the only guys sheffield haven't bought.

It's working..left a near novel on here the other day and it didn't make it through, never mind. Hi Hollie, glad you liked what i wrote!! Don't get me wrong I do rate Poole I just think he's a little too easily knocked off the puck...Your objections seemed rather strongly heartfelt..are you his girlfriend/mum/sister or some such thing?? (I'm kidding). Anyway I wasn't whinging n moaning just giving my views on some of the goings on and standards of personnel at the Nynex..that's what this page is here for isn't it airing views n opinions. Oh and I wouldn't say I had one particular favourite player ..I was defending Byram purely coz I think he was a good player and if you work out his stats I suspect he'd be in the top 3 scorers in our squad. Anyway good result against Sheffield and with only four defencemen, coops is looking very good, lets hope they can keep this up for the play-offs.

Greetings fellow Stormsters, can't wait for Kovacs vs Lindsey - the re match tomorrow when the Squeelers are in town. For your info the match is TOTALLY SOLD OUT - so all you Squeelers fans who, 2 season's ago sang "You'll never fill the Nynex" - stick that up your Steely Dan - 17,500 is almost 3 times your "Steel Shed" capacity. I'm off the understanding that there are 2 seats left on the Storm bench though, as Jago, and Bart Verstapulenanaindnd will not be playing. Not to worry we can all watch the Herr Jago next season in Berlin.

If that Dale Jago message is for real then you should have left your e-mail address. If you want to send me a private mail to simon.sm@zetnet.co.uk, I have a few people (including your relatives in Canada like Glenn) who wanted your e-mail address but I said that I didn't think you had one. People have been telling me that you have stopped going to the Arches now. If you're still contracted to the Storm, you should still be going to the functions. I hope you'll be at the Presentations Night. There are many fans that want to say goodbye before you go to Germany.

About the new pictures - yes that is my fault - I have linked them to the wrong place. That'll teach me to update the pages at 3.00AM! It'll be fixed by tomorrow.

By the way, if you want to do a "carriage return" in this Guestbook, pressing return doesn't work. You have to type br with triangle brackets round it (over the . and ,) and that does the return for you. I've done two br's to leave a blank line.

Brad Rubachuk a skillful player? When Bradley joined the Storm last year there was little doubting his ability to score goals and play/fight hard, he was quoted as saying that he was glad to move to Manchester as he was used to play against stiffer opposition, well what happened? No 1 points this season (so far) is Craig Woodcroft who was playing defence for the first 7 matches through injuries to Jago, Cooper and Barnes's unfortunate accident with a tree (and too much beer methinks). Rubachuk talks a good fight but when it comes down to it he bottles it, for instance when faced with Nicky Chinn on Thursday he wouldn't have said boo to a goose! On Hilton "THE POACHER" Ruggles, well I never thought he has played well since moving from the Devils (where I agree he WAS a goal scoring machine), he was never motivated last year, I understand that as he had moved down a league and playing the Solihull Barons on a wet n windy tuesday evening in November doesn't sound quite as good as playing in the B & H finals! Over the last few games though he has suprised me, not just in his reluctance to foul or get sent off but also in his determination to go forward even though he is having a poor season (by his standards). If we were playing in the NHL (I wish!) he would be ideal, coming good at the end of the season, but were not, and so Ruggles should be determined to score in the beginning of the season (even if it's raining and we've got to play at the pit of a rink on Lower Parliment St!!!) Shawn Byram, what a joke, the guy was a constant whinger, whoever wrote the crap about his strength and power, I saw him against Chris Brant & Rubachuk last year, plenty of mouth but no bottle. When he's up against the likes of Milan Figalo (however you spell his dumb ass name) he was a great fighter, but hey, against a 40 year old bloke who doesn't want to fight even Nick Poole would look good!!!! (sorry Nick) ps The tournement at the start of next season should feature the Ottawa Senators and the Philly Flyers! Cool!!

OK Mike you think you know it all huh? Well you think Byram was a strong force on the ice you must be joking, you obviously weren't at Bracknell last season when we beat them 8-7 Shawn Byram picked a fight with one of their guys and then ran away!!!!! The Bracknell player chased him around their rink for about 5 minutes and that's not my idea of strength, Byram was lucky not to slip in him own crap!!!!!!!, he talked such a good fight and then ran away, for a guy of his size and ability I would expect a little more than that. Don't get me wrong last season he looked brilliant but that was against a lower calibre of opposition, sadly for him he was found lacking this season, in a higher standard. Nick Poole might not be the biggest guy in the league or one to pick a fight, but his effort and work ethic is never less than 110%, the same could not be said for Shawn at times, and to say that Nick ran out of ideas is a load of rubbish, Nick is a very fast skillful player and one that the Storm are lucky to have. Like you I'll believe all these rumours of players comings and goings when I see them, because like you I was also a Trafford Metros fan and you're right the Storm do need a big strong solid guy who's willing to take on other players if he has to. But Nick wasn't brought here to do that he was brought here as a fast skating skilful playmaker, which is what he is. So next time I think you should keep your comments about Nick Poole to yourself and concentrate on giving the team some support, insted of whinging and moaning just because your favourite player has gone.

It really annoys me in Powerplay when the Manchester correspondent, 'Chris Murray' goes on about how many supporters they get. When I have seen them at Bracknell, there is only about thirty of them. Even the Lee Valley Whalers (defunct) would take more travelling supporters than this and we only used to have 600 at home. Surely with the amount of money you have spent, you should be doing better. A good coach such as Brian Smith, would have used the money more wisely and hence done better in the league.

OK 'Inside' and Richard T Penn, I read your comments on players coming and staying etc and coaching changes, I find what you wrote to be like a script from Jackanory, particularly as Ruggles has a guaranteed contract for next season that was agreed at the start of this season, also what you said about Rubachuk, is completely unconvincing, considering Solihull are known to have money troubles and will probably still be playing out of Hobs Moat Road next season. Why on Earth would a player from Manchester want to leave to go to Hobs Moat Road??? You've obviously never been there because if you had you wouldn't write such rubbish, I can't wait until the next episode of your 'insight'

I was in desperate search of Brad Rubachuk and I stumbled across this page. I am a huge hockey fan and an even bigger fan of Ruby's. Since it is highly unlikely that I will ever attend a game in Manchester the internet has kept me informed of his progress. If any of you regular Storm fans out there ever get the opportunity to read this, please tell Brad I said "Hello". If by some lucky chance you ever get to see this Brad, I miss watching you play out there. The American Hockey League isn't the same without you. Now I have a new team to cheer for, GO STORM!!!

Hmmmm. I take the point about the PA and the constant leaping and dancing. I'd rather watch what's going on on the ice and yes! The idiots who insist on starting Mexican Waves whilst play is in progress need shooting. Once again I want to watch the Hockey. However......(there's always a but) as I said before, *supporting* your team means just that. Support. It does not mean a torrent of insults at selected players for their (perceived) inadequacies. Sitting behind people who constantly complain ruins the match for me. The people resonsible may, or may not, be the nicest people in the world but you spoil the game for me. Sorry, but that's my opinion.

A couple of points to raise: firstly, I agree with Jonny's observations about the 'atmosphere' at the Stormshelter. I do not, however, agree that we need a change - yet. Please remember that ice hockey on this scale is brand new in Manchester, and it will take time to develop. I believe that efforts ARE underway to educate the fans, but teenagers need the fun and excitement of being a part of a big crowd. The novelty value has yet to wear off. I have been a Devils supporter (when JL had just started the team), and a Steelers supporter (again, just as the team started.). They had the same problems there then, and now look at them. If what you want is a knowledgable crowd of mainly adults, then please remember that in five years (the length of time it took Devils to become as good as they are), most of this crowd will be in their twenties. Secondly, I agree that the mexican waves are annoying, but if play is in progress, it's easy enough to ignore them. Thirdly, about the program changes all those months ago; I disagree with most forms of censorship, but I happen to believe that JL grabbed the high moral ground on this issue. (Even if his language belied this fact.) If the Steelers want to be moaning, vindictive supporters (If you hate the Steelers, clap your hands...), they run the risk of alienating themselves from the rest of UK hockey fans. A joke is OK, but their editorial went too far, and any response to it would have vindicated it. Again, because our fan base is so young, I approve of JLs actions on the grounds that the sentiments proposed would not have given a good impression of the sport. One of the main reasons I enjoy the sport so much is the friendliness of the fans around the country. It would be a shame to spoil this cameraderie before the youngsters sampled it. Some other points to raise; I had heard from somewhere that Ruggles and Cooper were the only two to have signed contracts for next season. I hope Ruggles carries on improving. Since we have so much to say about the music etc at the Nynex, how about offering some suggestions. I would like to see a change in the pre match music, something with a little more obvious drum beat. Remember Lulea? With the Bears head? How about it?

Good to hear from you 'Inside'. Nice to know that I'm not the only boring old (21) fart out there. What you say about Lawless and Byram is interesting and we'll have to wait and see how things pan out over the summer though the predictions you make are quite believable and make sense though I question the wisdom of bringing back Byram. Yes, he's popular but we really need a faster skating forward like Nick Poole to take his place to give us some offensive penetration. Byram is really too slow to cut it in the Super League. I'd be interested to hear what you've heard on the team line up for next year. I too had heard about Jago leaving (has he played his last game for the Storm?) and I've got it on good authority from one of the players who would rather remain anonymous that Ruggles might well be leaving as will Jeff Lindsay and that Vegas Finnie is far from happy. Couple this with the players we're bound to get rid of then that only really leaves Vanstaalduinen, Turner, Poole, Woodcroft and Cooper (he's contracted for next season) as probables for next term. What does everyone else reckon?

Great pages on the STORM!! I wish that you had more pictures of the team!! especially john finnie! Thanks to my sister for letting me use her e-mail address and giving me the opportunity to surf the net via her university!! Shame the season is nearly over, hope we'll do better next season - hopefully we'll have a stronger team by then and we'll have ditched lightning Jack!!! My sister's boyfriend also hopes that we get rid of Ruggles too. hmmmm!! Bye for now! Nicola.

Time to stand on my soapbox!

I quite agree with the comment regarding "the Nynex is becoming stale". I also find the away matches to be great as the enthusiasm from the travelling fans, the sad B's, and even the 'mouthy' fans creates a more exciting prospect than a bunch of 14 year olds dancing up and down every 30 seconds. Don't get me wrong I think hockey should be a family affair but I do wonder as to how many people go for the naff songs (ie Marcarena) instead of watching the hockey itself. The commentary is ok, but I dislike the way in which the fans only sing when told to. ABOVE all the most infuriating factor is the braindead morons, who insist on counting down from 10 to 1 to start a mexican wave. Once or twice a match is OK but they try and start one every 5 minutes.

Having been to Denver and watched the Avalanche, I think we should go back to the old organs music, and every now and then have a sample song. Methinks the songs should be updated every 6 months or so. (Before you say - sod off you old git - I'm 26!!!!!!)

Finally, I think it's a great idea that McDonalds should be allowed to open at the Nynex, hopefully Ogdens will lower their prices in regard to the catering!

P.S. More rumours from the Insider: A small international tournament will be happening before the start of the next season featuring the Storm, Steelers and 2 NHL sides, as soon as I hear who I'll let you know! Also, Jago HAS signed for a German Elite League side...Berlin maybe? Shaun Byram will be wearing his beloved no 16 shirt for the Storm next season. I spoke to a "contact" within Ogden's and he told me that as he was such a popular player and as John Lawless will NOT be coach next season (he will be general manager ONLY) Byram will be welcomed back with "open arms" - I think the new coach will be joining the Storm from the Italian Elite League - any ideas who? If you require more Storm home truths let me know via this page!!!!

I've followed the Storm for two seasons now - all home games and most away games. Is it just me that's getting a bit tired of the atmosphere at the Nynex. Every week - same songs, same John Hammond script, same drum rhythms and the same eerie silence when the team aren't playing well. It's true that we have the best building and it's true that we have the most fans (most under 16). But it seems to me that the ice hockey takes second place at Nynex and that is not the way it should be. The atmosphere at away games (even though the venues are smaller) are created by knowledgeable hockey fans reacting to the hockey and NOT the PA. The self-styled Sad B's and the ex-Trafford Metro's fans have come in for a lot of stick in other forums and this is unfair. I fall into neither of the above categories and have no vested interest but thay are amongst the friendliest people I've met with the Storm and theyreally know and love their hockey - so lay off! Sign up on the guest book and lets stimulate some proper debate on these topics.

Looked a bit ropey at the start, but we soon settled down and totally outplayed the Panthers. A good performance from the boys. Good to be off the bottom of the table again.

Hey! Sad Bs. Just because you've sponsored an entire player (wooooh!) doesn't give you the right to bad mouth the rest of the team. Give the lads some support, why don't you. We lost 6-3 at Basingstoke on Thursday - we'd better improve for the Panthers game on Sunday.

If you were wondering what was (and still is to a lesser extent) up with the front page of Inter The Storm, well I decided to be lazy and update the page through an online editor. Then I didn't bother to check if it had worked or not. The online editor (which I won't be using again) changed all the settings and fonts to stupid things and totally ruined the page. I've tidied it up the best I can without starting the page from scratch, and it will be re-done over the weekend.

I can't believe that we blew it yesterday. Two goals from Jago though got him Man of the Match. Apart from occasional spells of good play he still looked like he wasn't bothered - and why should he be if he's already signed for another team? In the programme John Lawless said that the players should "play pretty hockey" they should go and shoot as that's the only way to score. Well Mr Lawless how about telling your players that not us. There was a slight improvement against Newcastle but hardly stunning. I was watching Lawless for some of the match and counted a number of opportunities that he could have said "Well done" or "What the **** are you playing at?" to his players just after a line change or during a stoppage in play. Surely this is beneficial to the team. But no. He just stood there with his arms folded staring into space as usual. Colin Downie was playing in Number 35 in the game also as Jason Wood has had to return to Cardiff. That was like old times! Newcastle looked really lethargic again just like last week when we won 5-3 - how they are so high in the table I'll never know. In theory, before last night's game, Storm could have still finished 3rd in the league and Newcastle could still finish bottom if all results went the right way - I think that might have changed now! We need to beat Basingstoke tonight to make sure that we won't end up bottom (well it won't make sure but it'll go a way to making sure) and if we lose we WON'T be bottom despite what nearly all the tables will say including teletext and the match programme - the table is sorted on GAMES WON and THEN goal difference if that is equal. Storm are currently on 11 wins and Basingstoke 9 - and Bison have played more games than Storm and there's 2 points between them. I'm going to watch Storm play away at Bracknell on Sat 22 Feb - I've only ever been to away games at Blackburn and Sheffield so it should go good. The Storm programme claims that the game faces off at 5.15 but I reckon it's 6.00 as the programme is wrong about everything else. Anyway, come on Lawless - TALK TO YOUR TEAM - don't bottle it up inside you and then blast the players (possibly unnecessarily) in the period break. Watch out Panthers - we're out to stuff you on Sunday. Oh yes, about injuries - Bart is out until inbetween the last game (23 Feb) and the start of the play-offs, Raymond should be back for the Panthers game (Hmmmm does this mean Downie again against Bison?), David Smith is now back. That's it I think. Have you heard the sound clips yet? What do you think - the rest will be posted to the page on Friday night/Sat morning. The rest of the pages will not be updated until then either - Storm Blitz will go out on Saturday morning also.

We only started to be interested in the game last season after being told how much fun it was at a game. We went along and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We have since moved to a new location but still follow the Storm, by watching the results on ceefax, which we get via the forces tv network. The only complaint I have is that when I wrote to the Manager last september to see if there was any chance of meeting the team when we were home on leave, I didn't even get a reply. So if you are reading this I would love the teams autographs especially Hilton Ruggles and Dale Jago (what a babe). If any fans would like to get in touch feel free by mailing us at the above Email.
