I know I've been otherwise engaged just lately (the words help, college, revision & exams spring to mind), but whats all this hes going/staying/jetting off to the moon stuff? Just to add my bit - I say keep Jago (cos I've liked him from the first game I saw - even if this isn't a valid reason!) also like Turner & Calder (obviously got a thing about defence). Now to upset potentially hundreds (???) ditch Ruggles!

Byee.

PS I've renewed my season ticket, that's dedication for you.....biochemistry revision here I come.

Happy Easter everyone!

I've got some gossip from the final last night John Lawless was sat in Cathedral Arches with Newcastle's Mike Bondarchuck. It's a bit funny though because there's rumours going around that he's been told to leave Newcastle. There's also rumours that Nicky chinn (steelers player) is comingtto Storm.

Good Luck Sheffield and Nottingham on Saturday, also really looking forward to Fife stomping on them SOUTHERN PANSIES! Just a quick point to the person saying things about teams thrown together LOOK AT AYR SCOTTISH EAGLES!! Benson and Hedges Runners Up and nearly got through to the Play-Off Final. Does anyone else think the idea of the overtime was a bit stupid, the players from both teams were dying on their feet last week. Well let's hope for some great games Saturday, and that Storm will be at the final next season going for the treble. We can all hope. SEE YA!

I was in Manchester late last year and got a chance to watch the Storm twice. I know one was against a very strong Steelers team. Well, looks like the Storm had a pretty miserable season. We know all about underachieving Hockey Teams in San Jose. Best wishes to all the fans and there's always the 1997-1998 Season.
Regards,
BRIAN

BTW, did the attendance drop as the season went on. Another mystery of life here is that every one of the Sharks games was a sellout and there is a waiting list for next years Season Tickets.

Wow! I've just had the wierdest experience! I was looking at the leaflet advertising the ISL finals, and noticed that the photo was of SHEFFIELD and NOTTINGHAM! Spooky or what? Seriously...I hope that we have a few improved performances over the next season. I would in particular like to see Dave Latta become more of a force. I suspect that he was not happy with his own performance and stopped trying in the hope that next season he could start afresh. I would just like to point out that in our first season of superleague standard hockey, how well the Storm did not to finish bottom! Could you imagine a football team flung together at short notice achieving in the first season? I would also like to thank the guys for providing me with the memory of the season, all those Squealers fans going quiet! Just to walk into an arena the size of Nynex, and see it full...I went in and out a few times to try and imagine what it would be like for the players. However it was for them, they responded! It was nice to see a bit of effort put into the pre match 'show' too. I look forward with bated breath to next season, meanwhile I'll be watching those Battles on Ice videos from 6-9 on Sunday nights! See you in a few months.

Hi cuties, it's us again. Just thought we'd let you in on some of the hot gossip we picked up from the Semi finals on Saturday. Please note, this is strictly between you and us, OK? Can you keep a secret? It seems that little Ruby had a little strop with little Lawless, and tore up his contract. Temper, temper Brad! After a bit of clearing the air, he was issued a new one and they kissed and made up. All together now, Aaaarrrr. There's more, but you'll just have to wait until tomorrow.... Night, night, sleep tight, don't let the bed bugs bite. (Unless they're tall dark and handsome!!!)

I can't believe that Lawless has axed Ruby. I thought he was great. Oh well. I just thought I would give my opinion of who should stay and go. You can email me dis/agreeing if you want.
Stay: Ruby (even though its a bit late now!), Woodcroft, Morin, Cooper, Sebastian, Lindsay, Poole, Turner, Raymond, Finnie.
Go Sorry: Zavisha (even though I think hes the most gorgeous man alive!), M.Smith, D.Smith, Ruggles!!!!!!!! Vanstaalduinen (is he ever fit?), Jago, Penney, Latta, Calder.
It's not that I think they aren't very good players, but if we want to come top 3 next season we will have to lose some players as much as I love them.

So it's goodbye season 96/97 and hello 97/98. If Lawless IS moved to general manager and we get a coach in, we may finish in the top half next season. Good things are already happening - namely Rubachuk going - the only thing I thought he was gonna win this season was Penalty Points, but "Ruby" cocked even that up and he finished a lowly 3rd!!! Were Ruggles to leave along with Finnie, and Zavisha we might be able to build a strong, committed squad. Ruggles was quoted as saying he only turns up for practice because he has too, he doesn't think he could learn anything new at his age, well fine Hilton, sod off to Solihull.
We should be in for some good hockey at the Nynex this weekend cos Cardiff are in town!!! Lets hope they beat the Panthers in the Final, it would be disasterous if that GOON Kummu got his hand on the cup!!! Well that's it from me for this season, I'll keep my ear to the ground for the latest ins and outs (hopefully quite a few). One final thing, the Kings and the Senators should be here in August for a pre-season tourney - that should be interesting.........

Did I read correctly?? We need Ruggles out there?!?!?. Why?? don't you think the team is struggling enough as it is. No what we need is a handful of players who can consistently put the puck in the net, players who can do ALL the basics (You know skate, pass-to someone on their own team, stick control those kinda things). A few more players over 5 foot three might be useful too and a few more with the commitment and work rate of the likes of Rubachuk, Morin and Woodcroft might not go amiss. Oh and how about some tactics which involve having a player in front of goal when team mates are down the wing or behind the net looking to make a pass. How about this for a really radical idea - when on the powerplay how about making use of the man advantage instead of playing dump and chase????? Why does Lawless insist on this tactic?? We could even consider a more European style of play - you know skill, passing, build from the back instead of Ice Hockey's equivalent of Wimbledon FC (Hurl the puck up the ice and hare after it!) Yes very entertaining. Anybody ever watch The Finns or Czechs play at international level? Far better to watch than dump and chase - oh and Finland got silver medal at Calgary 88 Olympics. Oh well here's to next season - lets have Jarmo Myllis in goal

We needed Hilton Ruggles out there against Newcastle. Apparantly Ruggles was banned after an incident picked out of the TV pictures from Wed night at Cobras and was fined and so missed the match on Sunday!

And Eric Raymond!!! Who chose the Man Of The Match????? Eric might have done well but surely someone else must have done better than that because Eric was to blame for at least one of the Newcastle goals. At the one on one he just opened his legs and said "here, shoot" and he did straight through them.

Sorry for the lack of Storm Blitz and updated pages since Friday but I tried to set up Netscape 4 and found that the features I wanted it for weren't working properly in the beta I have! So I had to re-format the Storm Blitz mailing list which has taken forever! Updates will be done by midweek.

By the way, Radio Sheffield has been doing live commentaries on Steelers away games in the play-offs and hopefully will be doing the home game v Nottingham. Storm are at Ayr on the same night, so hopefully Radio Sheffield will give us updates on that as well.

Oh yes, and well done to Salford Reds for beating the Wire (Warrington) on Saturday - brilliant atmosphere as well even if I was in the middle of the Warrington fans! I can't decide whether to go to the semi-final against St Helens or see the play-offs at the Nynex.

Well, what can be said about the Newcastle match? In short, they outplayed us! The team didn't play badly, they got a lot of time with the puck, put together a few good moves and for a while looked to be playing like a team. What we lacked was any finishers though, there were a lot of wasted oppertunities. Oh and the defence seemed to panic and make quite a lot of mistakes. I thought the attack on ruby was a bit on the goon/thug side and deserved the sending off (I know ruby is no angel either!), the other fight was far more balanced though. Anyone know what happened to Ruggles? I didn't see him on the ice.

The playoffs have been a bit of a disaster really, and i thought the team would be competetive after their last few league matches. But still next season will be with us soon!

Well what can one say about our showing against Newcastle. Ehm well I personally think it's a case of our squad is fine on effort and commitment (especially Ruby) but maybe a little short on talent. Go on all fans with rose coloured spectacles shoot me down, but I suggest you watch closely in future - Newcastle were streets ahead of us on ability, some of the storm's passing was pathetic. Time MAYBE to bring in a substantial amopunt of new players for next season. As I've said before we also need more size on the team against some opposition it looks like men against boys. Ah well here's to next season. Hi hollie how are you??

Well what can i say, that is it, it's all over for the STORM as far as i am concerned! What a rubbish game, personally i do not think any either team played well, but to give Newcastle credit, they certainly took advantage of STORM'S mistakes and lets admit they have made a few of them this evening! What does everyone think about they attack on RUBY by MATHIESON? Should it have been allowed to go on for as long as it did? All i can say is lets hope that we play better against the DEVILS, it's over for the play-offs for us, but to beat the devils i think is a MUST!

Did anyone spot Peter Beradsley (sorry if that is incorrect, i am not a footy person)? He was a happy chappie after the 3rd goal!!!!
