I was having a quick gander at the Discography and noted the comment that this is a North American song...my dear chap this is a CANADiAN song. It is THE Canadian song. Stompin' Tom got a Governor's Award!! (whether or not specifically for writing the song I know not). Specially popular in Calgary due to the line "travel like a burning flame". There's another "Hockey Song", I cna't remember the artiste but the chorus goes "I play ball hockey, floor hockey, road hockey, roller hockey, ice hockey..." etc etc for about three minutes...., There is also a group called The Zambonis whose CD of hockey-related ditties I have not yet tracked down. Tragically Hip have quite a lot about hockey in their songs.."700-foot Ceiling" is about pond hockey on outdoor rinks
