Stormforce Press Officer

Should I or should I not revel in the soubriquet of "Mick Thompson's no. 1 fan"? One can only assume that if I am to be afforded such an accolade, there can surely not be many fans from whom to choose.
I note from the offering in the programme for the game with Basingstoke that the grammatical standard has improved none, and I know that I am not alone in having a total lack of interest in Mr. Thompson's opinion on "Player of the Year" awards. If the man has nothing relevant to write, it would be in the best interests of Stormforce if he were to write nothing at all.
Could someone please enlighten me as to the exact nature of the position of "Press Officer"? Other than the scribblings in the programmes and the occasional quote from post-match Press calls, his existence seems hard to justify. It's patent that the man is not a journalist and, while journalistic training is not perhaps essential, his obvious lack of ability with words and grammar is an embarrassment to those of us who read the programmes. Surely there is someone on the committee who could proof-read the articles before they go to print?
Whilst not wanting to denigrate Mr. Thompson's effort, which is laudable, and, no doubt, time-consuming, it has become a source of amusement to many Storm fans,(and a number of opposition fans also) and reflects badly on the other committee members, some of whom work very hard. He clearly does not have the capacity to do an adequate job and should either enlist the help of someone who can put a sentence together, or step down completely, to save his felloww committee members from further embarrassment. Perhaps he could use a future column to invite people to offer their services as "Assistant Press Officer" and see whether there is any reaction.
By way of closing, I would like to point out to Mr. Thompson that I have no fear of being at the eye of a storm, given that the eye is a small area of low pressure and calm at the centre of said storm. Whether or not looking behind me would be a fruitless exercise remains to be seen. To have any idea of anything untoward behind me, I would need to be a good deal taller. Maybe I should get myself a pair of stilts!
