I can only assume your employer has got you on a short term fixed length contract.

Why don't we take it to its logical extreme, pay them 10 grand a game each and throw them in the ship canal wearing concrete boots if they don't win every game. That should focus their minds.

The way to get them motivated is to give them a degree of security and have a large enough rosta to drop them when they're under achieving.

I have no problems with players wanting to go home early in the season. If you've ever worked away from home long term you'll know how unsettling it can be even if you are being payed big bucks. There's no point upsetting the whole team just for the sake of a few players whose families are homesick. Leaving so near to end of season like Dominic did is a bit different. If Kurt wanted to keep him I think he should have stuck it out.

If you start hiring and firing every year you will just perpetuate the situation, season on season.
