They definitely were playing for the shootout..Hasek stopped six of six on the breakaway contest at the All-Star Skills competition. Canada played into the Czechs' hands by not peppering the net..not one really good scoring chance in the first. Lindros did assist the tying goal b ut I've seen him play two major intyernational tournaments now and he hasn't performed. Old Joey Nieuwendyk has been the best forward. You have to give the Czech defence credit..they were underrated by everyone. North American players have a lot of trouble with the bigger Olympic ice..they don't develop the necessary skating and puck-handling skills on crowded NHL rinks. I'm watching the bronze medal game at the moment..2-2 with Canada outshooting Finland about 20-8 - Fimnnish goalie Sulander (who??) playing a blinder. I feel sorry for Gretz and Bourque who won't get another chance..Finland just scored on the PP 17 secs into 3rd period..bring on Martin Brodeur!!
