I suppose the biggest problem is that,unlike
most local BBC stations,GMR has lost it's
AM link.BBC Radio Sheffield still has access to
both AM and FM frequencies,so can split it's output.The Asian network is clearly an important
part of GMR's output,so it's unlikely they'd
ditch that for Storm coverage(It'd help if our
name was 'United'!!).Again,why don't the Storm
do it themselves with an RSL(Restricted service
license).Lots of sports clubs do this.The license
allows the holder to broadcast,usually high on the AM band,sometimes high on the FM band,for up to 30 days a year.One license would
do for all season.The only drawback would be
the lack of access to the necessary telephone
link to do the commentary.If memory serves,though,part of the deal for obtaining a IHSL franchise was that provision for broadcasters had to be in place.
