Just unearthed an old newspaper cutting from Dec 17th 1996 that I thought would bring a wry smile to the lips of fellow Storm fans!
"Manchester Storm have signed their third new player this week as they bid to make a belated impact on the Superleague, Dave Latta, Eric Raymond and Mike Maurice (who? I'm sure you're asking) Latta played 36 games in the NHL before moving to Germany. Said Lawless "You can't be a first round draft in the NHL and not have something to offer, we could have uncovered a real diamond!"
I don't want to be a critic of Lawless who did great things for the team but how could he have made such a gaff? I mean when did Latta ever show any NHL mastery? Rumour has it that the only thing he excelled at was table tennis!! (Lawless' own words!)
